Synopsis: A story abouth Chicago's "Bronzeville Community". The centerpiece of the painting was inspired by a public statue entitled the "Traveling Man" whos suit is made of hundreds of shoe soles symbolic of all the blacks who migrated from the deep south to Chicago in hopes of finding a better life.Bronzeville was a bustling self sustaning metropolis in the early 1930's, which is depicted in the bottom right portion of the painting. After the depression poverty soon took over. A resurgence in property values and a strong momentum to revitalize the area has started a gentrification process. The bottom left corner is symbolic of some of the people who are being left behind. The top left portion is symbolic of the new architecture and housing reshaping the face of the neighborhood. The top left is another exampl of the resurgence with the "Bronzeville Military Academy Marching Band".
